Full Biography
Clegg was born on June 7, 1953, in Bacup, Lancashire, to Muriel (Braudo), a Rhodesian mother, and Dennis Clegg, an English father of Scottish ancestry. Jewish immigrants from Lithuania made up Clegg’s mother’s family, and he was raised in a secular Jewish home where he learned about the Ten Commandments but refused to participate in a bar mitzvah or even hang out with other Jewish kids at school. When he was just a baby, his parents got divorced, and at the age of three, he relocated with his mother to Rhodesia (now Zimbabwe). He also spent a small portion of his youth in Israel.
