Mthokozisi Khathi, better known as DJ Tira, is a South African DJ, record producer, and Kwaito artist. DJ Tira was instrumental in popularizing the Gqom music genre.
Khathi won the Smirnoff SA DJ Knockout competition in 2000, and his compilation CD “Real Makoya” was published in 2001. He is a member of Durbans Finest, a South African musical group. Tira acquired a record deal with Kalawa Jazmee in 2005, and in 2007 he founded his record label, Afrotaiment. Ezase Afro Vol:1 (2008) was a commercial success for him.
