Full Biography
Brenda Fassie was a singer, songwriter, dancer, and activist from South Africa. Brenda Fassie is also referred to as the “Queen of African Pop,” the “Madonna of The Townships,” or simply The Black Madonna by her adoring admirers, who call her MaBrrr. Ironically, even though her Xhosa name, Nokuzola, means “quiet,” “calm,” or “peace,” her audacious stage antics gained her a reputation for “outrageousness.”
