Joyous Celebration was founded more than 20 years ago in KZN by three friends; today, their ambition stands as a massive monument across the South African music industry. For many years, Jabu Hlongwane, Lindelani Mkhize, and Mthunzi Namba had met at concerts and religious conventions in and around Durban before they considered teaming. “We put on a show called Joyous Celebration,” Jabu says. Which has grown from Joyous 1 to Joyous 22, and is now performed and staged by a powerful 32-strong talented choir on vocals with a highly-spirited 12-piece band whose presentation incorporates revamped traditional and contemporary spiritual hymns as well as original compositions that have won the ensemble thousands of fans worldwide.
