Vusi Sidney Mahlasela Ka Zwane is a Sotho South African singer-songwriter who was born in Pretoria in 1965.
His music is generally defined as “African folk,” and he is known as “South Africa’s Voice.” Many in the anti-apartheid movement were inspired by his work. His themes include the fight for liberty, as well as forgiveness and reconciliation with foes. Vusi has seven studio albums out on Sony in South Africa, and in 2003 he signed with Dave Matthews’ ATO Records.
