Tokollo Tshabalala, Kabelo Mabalane, and Zwai Bala founded TKZee, a South African Kwaito music group, in the 1990s. With their chart-topping singles “Phalafala” and “Shibobo,” the group rose to prominence in late 1997 and early 1998.
Take It Easy, their debut EP was released in 1996 but did not sell well. The group released their second EP “Phalafala” in December 1997, sampling Joni Mitchell’s “Big Yellow Taxi.” The song was a hit, and the CD single sold over 100,000 copies.
