Full Biography
Patrice Motsepe was born to Kgosi Augustine Motsepe, chief of the Mmakau branch of the Tswana people. His father had previously worked as a schoolteacher and then as the proprietor of a popular Spaza shop for mine employees. Motsepe learned the fundamentals of business from his father in this shop, where he also gained first-hand mining experience.
Motsepe owns Mamelodi Sundowns, a Premier Soccer League club. Motsepe acquired a 37% stake in Blue Bulls Co. in November 2019. Remgro (37%) and Blue Bulls Rugby Union (26%), are the other key shareholders.
