Prince Mangosuthu Gatsha Buthelezi, another name for Mangosuthu Buthelezi, was born on August 27, 1928. Mangosuthu is a traditional Zulu leader and politician from South Africa. He serves as the traditional prime minister to the Zulu royal family and is now a member of parliament.
He established the Inkatha Freedom Party (IFP) in 1975 while serving as the Kwa-Zulu Bantustan’s Chief Minister during the apartheid era. From 1994 until 2004, he held the Minister of Home Affairs position.
His legacy from that time is still debatable, with detractors claiming that his rule constituted a de facto one-party state that was intolerably hostile to political opposition and dominated by Inkatha.
