Jane Alexander is a successful American actress who has worked in cinema, television, and theater. Alexander was born in Boston in 1939 into a family of intellectuals and artists. Her father was a well-known economist, while her mother was a composer and teacher of music. Alexander studied theater at Sarah Lawrence College and graduated with a degree in English.
Alexander made her Broadway debut in A Thousand Clowns in 1963, replacing Phyllis Wynn as Sandy Dennis’ standby. She apparently played the part a few times.
