Itumeleng Issac Khune is a South African professional soccer goalkeeper who plays for Kaizer Chiefs in the Premier Soccer League as well as the South African national team. Khune was born in Tshing, Ventersdorp, North West, as one of six children of Elias and Flora Khune. Khune is of Tswana origin. Itumeleng’s father, Elias, worked as a driver at a mine in Carletonville and also played amateur football as a striker.

Itumeleng Issac Khune went to high school at New Nation, Westridge, St Barnabas, and RW Fick. Lucky Khune, his younger brother, was a striker for the Chiefs and presently plays for PSL side Chippa United. Khune is known as “Spider-Man” because of his quick reflexes and adaptability as a goalkeeper. Khune and his wife Sphelele Makhunga wedded in a traditional ceremony in 2019.
