Frank Chikane is a South African government servant, author, and cleric who was born on January 3, 1951, in Bushbuckridge, Transvaal.
While a student, Frank Chikane developed political awareness. The Black Consciousness Movement and its ideals had a big impact on him. Frank Chikane was frequently detained and arrested while he was studying. Chikane finished his studies to be a pastor at the Apostolic Faith Mission in 1979, but later he was defrocked because of his political beliefs and activities. Frank Chikane was reinstated in the church following the end of apartheid and currently serves as the leader of its black congregation.
