Rachel Farrell, Moosa Ismail Meer’s second wife, was her mother. Her mother was an orphan of Jewish and Portuguese ancestry. She became Muslim and changed her name to Amina. She raised £1000 for famine assistance in Bengal, India, when she was 16 years old in 1944.
