Ms. Ramgobin, 56, was found guilty of cheating businessman SR Maharaj, who had paid her 62 lakh rands (approximately 3.3 crores) to clear the customs and import fees on a consignment from India that never came, according to news agency PTI’s language service, Bhasha. He had been offered a percentage of the profits in exchange for extending the financial assistance.
