She is a South African middle-distance runner who has won two Olympic gold medals and three World Championships in the women’s 800 meters. Her parents are Jacob and Dorcus Semenya.

She won gold at the World Championships in 2009, the Olympics in 2016, and the World Championships in 2017, when she also took home a bronze medal in the 1500-meter race.
