Caster Semenya was born on January 7, 1991 in Ga-masehlong, Limpopo, South Africa. Her grandma brought her up in Fairlie, Limpopo. Caster Semenya’s entire family, including her parents, Jacob and Dorcus Semenya, had already spoken out forcefully in support of Mokgadi.
The International Amateur Athletic Federation (IAAF) classifies her as a DSD, intersex, or athlete with Differences in Sex Development. Despite having naturally greater testosterone levels than the usual woman, she has not come out to confirm whether she is an intersex woman or not.
