Cameron van der Burgh is a South African hedge fund analyst and retired competitive swimmer. He is Africa’s first home-trained world record holder and Olympic gold medalist.
Cameron’s parents are his primary support system, and the press has called him a ‘Mama’s boy’ because he dedicates all of his accomplishments to her. He credits his mother and father, Bev Van der Burgh, and David van der Burgh as his motivation and the sacrifices they made for him to become the high achiever he is today. His mother Bev Van der Burgh took time away from her job to accompany him to his training sessions, all in support of his desire of representing South Africa in the Olympics.
