Bishop Ivan M. Abrahams is the World Methodist Council’s fourth General Secretary and the first South African. He entered office in 2012, after a period of transition that began with the conclusion of the World Methodist Conference in Durban, South Africa.
Bishop Abrahams served as Presiding Bishop of the Methodist Church of Southern Africa, one of Southern Africa’s major Christian denominations, from 2003 to 2012. Throughout his tenure, he provided prophetic leadership and counsel. His biggest achievement was the development and completion of the Seth Mokitimi Methodist Seminary, a multimillion-rand legacy project.
