Angie Motshekga was also appointed as interim president of the Republic of South Africa on 2 July 2021, while President Cyril Ramaphosa was in Zambia for Kenneth Kaunda’s official funeral. Angie Motshekga previously served on the Gauteng province government’s Executive Council. Motshekga is an African National Congress member. She was previously the president of the party’s women’s league.
