Full Biography
Bien-Aime Baraza’s mother is Nancy Makokha Baraza. Dr. Nancy Makokha Baraza is a former Kenyan judge who was born in 1957 in Bungoma District, Western Kenya. She was Kenya’s first Deputy Chief Justice and a member of the country’s first supreme court following the adoption of the 2010 Constitution.
Dr. Nancy Makokha Baraza worked in the court from June 2011 until her suspension in January 2012, when she resigned on October 18, 2012. Dr. Nancy Makokha Baraza was appointed to the Kenya Law Reform Commission for a three-year term in 2008, where she served as vice chairperson until she was appointed deputy CJ. She was appointed chairman of Kenya’s Media Council’s Ethics and Complaints Commission in early 2010.
