Biography & Wikipedia
Robert Sobukwe, the founder of the Pan African Congress, was a towering figure in South African black nationalism. A sweet, humble, genuinely devout man with a great brain, he could be considered one of the key sources of inspiration for the late Mr. Steve Biko’s black consciousness movement in the 1970s.
Robert Sobukwe contended that Africans needed to demonstrate to themselves and the rest of the world that they could stand on their own two feet. They needed to acquire their own and others’ esteem. To accomplish this, they needed to “liberate” themselves rather than rely on “non-blacks” to do it for them.
