Full Biography
Mam Thandi Nkabinde, Sjava’s father, was born in Bergville, KwaZulu-Natal (his mother). He is of Hlubi origin. Sibusiso (his brother) and Sindy (his sister) are Sjava’s two older siblings (his sister).
Sjava’s debut album, Isina Muva (2016), introduced his experimental sound, which fuses afro beats, hip hop, and contemporary R&B. Umqhele, his second studio album, was released in 2018 to critical acclaim. Umqhele, who maintains his fusion sound, expanded his African-influenced image and established himself in other international regions (mainly in Africa). Before Umqhele, Sjava released his debut EP, Umphako, in 2018.
