Nyameko Barney Pityana is a South African human rights lawyer and theologian. Barney Pityana believes in Black theology. rof Barney Pityana has not stated his intention to rejoin the African National Congress; instead, the administration led by Cyril Ramaphosa nominated him to chair the National Lotteries Commission at the age of 76. From 2011 until 2014, Barney Pityana was the rector of Grahamstown’s College of the Transfiguration (Anglican). He is the President of the University of Cape Town’s Convocation.
